Associate Town Planner - Heritage projects

We are currently searching for a Town Planner to play a key role on a significant heritage building project in London as part of a large multi-disciplinary team. The role is in our Town Planning team based normally at our Clerkenwell Studios. Once the government restrictions are lifted, frequent visits to the project offices based in Millbank/Victoria will be required, as are periods of co-location with the team based there.
About the role
The role comprises working closely with the client team, design team and heritage advisors to help define and deliver the planning strategy for this major heritage programme. The role will include:
•Work collaboratively with the project Design Team to create and communicate on planning issues at all levels to support the design development and associated processes across the projects
•Prepare planning strategy and communication strategy for the project and associated projects, and oversee their delivery
•Liaise closely with senior members of the client body
•Liaise with external stakeholders
•Contribute to risk registers
•General support to the BDP core project team
About you
Essential
•Strong technical background in development management and application production on large-scale projects
•Experience of providing town planning advice on complex heritage projects
•Be able to lead complex negotiations with clients, local planning authorities, stakeholders and community groups in order to gain planning permissions
•Work integrally as part of a design team with good design awareness/ literacy
•Work to tight deadlines
•High standards of logic, dependency, and related analytical skills
•Concise, clear and accurate, written and verbal communications
•Collaborative team contributor and communicator
•Ability to achieve Parliamentary Security clearance
•MS Office essential, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint InDesign (preferable)
Preferable but not essential
•Planning consultancy experience
•Wider planning expertise such as EIA
Essential requirement
Please note that the successful candidate will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard Pre-Employment check (BPSS) and will be required to undergo various checks including: Identity, Right to Work; 3 years continuous? UK Employment/Education History and Criminal Record. If you are unable to meet this and any associated criteria, then your employment may be delayed or rejected.
