Working Pattern: Monday - Thursday 8:45am – 5.00pm and Friday - 8:45am – 4.30pm
Hours: 37 hours per week

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Policy Planner to join our Strategic Planning Team at East Cambridgeshire District Council. We are looking for a dynamic, driven individual with good people skills who wants to make a difference. 

With a diverse range of buildings and projects in the District, including internationally renowned heritage and environmental assets, combined with a strong corporate desire to sustainable construction, there are wide-ranging areas of work to be enjoyed with this role. East Cambridgeshire is committed to growth, with a positive and pro-active approach to development.   

As a Senior Strategic Planning Officer in a small team, you will own and manage a number of important policy areas. We have a particularly active ‘Neighbourhood Planning’ system, therefore interest and experience in that field would be an advantage. Or perhaps you may want to specialise in housing land supply and monitoring, in which case experience in GIS and databases would be an advantage.  When we commence our next Local Plan update, we’d also expect you to have a lead role in that.

The successful candidate must be well organised and self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. You must have excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to contribute to a high-quality service to our customers. We would expect the successful candidate to be educated to degree level or hold the equivalent of a planning qualification, with town planning policy experience and a proven track record of managing your own workload.  

This post is permanent and full time. Normal office working hours are Monday to Friday 8.45 AM to 5.00 PM and Friday 8.45 AM to 4.30 PM, but flexible working hours are possible including some home-working if desired.
