It is an exciting time to work at Peterborough City Council. With a new Chief Executive and a new Executive Director, we are taking a fresh look at what we do, and how we do it. We are gearing up to start work on a brand-new Local Plan, and there has never been a better time to join us, as you will have the opportunity to shape the future, from the very start of the process.

Currently, we are keeping our skills and knowledge fresh, through collaborating with our neighbours to help them with their own local plans and Neighbourhood Planning support services but from the new year we will be preparing to start work on refreshing on our own Local Plan.

We are seeking a senior planner to join our friendly planning policy team to help with the preparation of our planning policy documents. Our Local Plan will establish where and how Peterborough should grow, decide how many homes we should build and determine where new jobs should be located. At the same time, these plans will protect the very things that make Peterborough a great place to live, such as our parks and historic areas.

We need a qualified and experienced planning professional (including some experience in planning policy) who can exercise initiative and work independently to help deliver our diverse and exciting policy service.

If you think this sounds like something you would enjoy doing, please do get in touch, and we can tell you all about the exciting and varied work that the team does.

Peterborough City Council recognises the need to develop flexible working practices and enable employees to maximise their performance and productivity whilst maintaining a good work life balance. This role is suitable for a hybrid model of office-based and remote working.
