Band 9, Spinal Column Points (36-40), salary: £42,503 - £46,549 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Planning Officer to join the Planning support services team in providing professional advice on a range of planning related matters. You will deal with all stages of the development management process: giving pre-application advice, making site visits, writing reports, making recommendations, discharging conditions and representing the council in appeals and at committee if appropriate. This role will also have some management and mentoring duties providing leadership, coaching and advice to your team, so it is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and progress your career.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in Development Management and dealing with advanced and complex cases. They must have a degree or equivalent qualification in subject of relevance to town planning (such as town planning, geography, environmental science, architecture, law, economics, sociology etc) and eligible to be a full corporate member of the RTPI.
