Planning Policy Team

We have two exciting opportunities for you to join our Planning Policy Team at King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council where you will be able to gain experience of a wide range of planning policy topics.

Kings Lynn and West Norfolk is a large Borough with diverse landscapes ranging from the Norfolk Coast AONB in the north, to the Fens and the Brecks in the south. There are a range of matters to plan for, including rural issues and urban regeneration, as well as major developments proposed within the main towns of King’s Lynn, Downham Market and Hunstanton.  West Norfolk provides a beautiful environment in which to live and work with the council offices based in King’s Lynn, a medieval town and port with an outstanding conservation area. 

Senior Planning Policy Officer

Starting salary up to £41,394 per annum (pay award pending) plus essential user car allowance and relocation package of up to £8k

We need you to provide senior level professional input to the preparation, monitoring and review of the Council’s Local Plan and related supporting policy documents.  You will raise the profile of the Local Plan and provide expert guidance to customers and colleagues as well as representing the Council at meetings with outside bodies, on a range of planning policy issues.

You will be a fully qualified planning with full membership of RTPI and proven experience in planning policy including in depth knowledge and experience of working in planning policy professional practice

Assistant Planner 

Starting salary up to £27696 per annum (pay award pending) plus essential user car allowance and relocation package of up to £8k

We need you to assist in all aspects of the Planning Policy function, providing support to senior colleagues to ensure the consistent and effective preparation, monitoring, review and implementation of the Local Plan.  You will effectively communicate with customers an assist in supporting those communication who are preparing a Neighborhood Plan.

Educated to A level standard you will have some planning experience and be familiar with planning legislation procedures and national guidance. You will be able to progress through to Senior Planner through our new progression scheme, and will be given full training and support.
