We are currently recruiting for a Town Planner to join our small and friendly team here at South Holland District Council.  This role is a career graded post and would suit someone educated to degree level looking to start their career OR someone who is ready for a career change!

Recently the team have had success recruiting people at the start of their careers and providing funding for appropriate planning qualifications, alongside their day job. This is a trend we want to continue!  
However, if you are already qualified and have some planning experience and looking to take the next step in your development then we want to hear from you!

We have opportunities for various grades and scale points:

The Graduate- £22,129-£25,927:

This role would suit a university leaver or degree educated person looking for a career change.  We would expect you to be educated to a degree level and be willing to embark on a further qualification in Planning, which the Council would fund and support.

The Planner- £26,446-£30,095:

This role would suit somebody with some level of work-based experience in or around planning or a closely related discipline.  We would expect you to be educated to a degree level and be willing to embark on a further qualification in Planning, which the Council would fund and support.

The Senior Planner- £30,984 - £35,336:

This role would suit somebody with specific planning experience looking to take the next step in their career.  We would expect you to be educated to at least degree level in planning.

Role Responsibilities:

  • You will play an active part in supporting the Planning service’s role managing, supporting and encouraging economic growth
  • You will be a key member of the Planning service team, contributing to all planning related matters, primarily Development Management.
  • Undertake a range of duties within the full spectrum of Planning activities – ranging from Development Management where the focus will be on determining applications (of varying types and complexity), to Planning Policy development and monitoring, and Planning Enforcement matters.
  • You will also provide professional advice and guidance to the public, Councillors and to other officers of the Council, and will contribute generally to the continued performance and improvement of the service.

Boston Borough Council, East Lindsey District Council and South Holland District Council have formed the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership.  The largest Council Partnership in the country. Since October 2021, the Partnership Councils have been working closely to deliver improved services to the communities in the sub-region and already there have been many positive outcomes.

Over time, it is envisaged that services will become formally shared across the three Councils creating the opportunity for colleagues to be involved in new and innovate areas of work.
