Hertsmere is located in southern Hertfordshire – we are 13 miles from Central London and within the M25.  We adjoin Greater London with excellent road and rail links making London and the Home Counties easily accessible. The Council Offices are situated in Borehamwood within Zone 6 and with a direct rail link into London Kings Cross St. Pancras.  The area is an internationally renowned centre for film and television production, home to BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios (a council owned asset).
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced planner to lead our vibrant Planning Strategy team, currently bringing forward a new Local Plan in Hertsmere.

Joining the service now will give you the opportunity to be involved in progressing the Local Plan as well as a wide range of projects to deliver new growth opportunities in our towns, villages and key strategic sites. 

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of working with private sector developers and public investors to deliver a range of development opportunities set around a Green Belt environment. You will also have the ability to think strategically and work collaboratively, with experience of working within and managing multi-disciplinary project teams.  
 
You will have a Degree in planning or a closely related discipline and hold a higher post-graduate qualification, accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).
