Planning Director / Full time

Our client is an independent, respected central London town planning consultancy who specialises in securing consents for both large and smaller scale, often complex and/or controversial retail, commercial, residential and leisure development schemes across the UK. Our client is well known through their methodical approach of identifying, often innovative, solutions to overcome challenging planning issues. This has given them a reputation for maximising development potential.


Initiating strategies (often having novel attributes) and leading brainstorming.  Securing client and professional team buy in. Responding decisively with effective tactics to resolve problems and/or give authoritative direction. 
Inspirational management and control of professional teams, effective chairing of team meetings and leading negotiations with LPAs and others to optimise outcomes.
Insightful application of planning law and the Framework to deliver highly effective advice and strategies.  Unambiguous direction for others’ research into planning law.
Authorship of consistently high quality, persuasive assessments and statements and highly effective advice, all always produced on or before deadlines.  Unambiguous direction for others’ drafting of such work.
Relating positively to all existing and potential clients, always completely comprehending their goals and effective and creative management of their expectations.
Identifying and/or pursuing opportunities for beneficial new instructions in a cost effective manner.  Preparing insightful and attractive fee proposals. 
Optimising efficacy of all delegated tasks.
Continually identifying and implementing opportunities to secure effective staff development, including management of formal and informal performance appraisals of staff.
Enthusing and motivating all other employees in their roles in the business.
Effective leadership in and execution of a specific role/component of the business’s management (see Annex 1), and adhering to office procedures (CCPR).
Positive contribution to the effective running of financial control systems and successful management of performance against agreed fees (including identifying invoice opportunities, accurate invoice descriptions and inputting to PFI and Fee Schedule, and managing client payment, all in a timely manner).
