Grade: S01/P04, sp 23-39

Contract:Permanent

Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week

Site: Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, London N1 2UD

Salary: £32,868 - £46,392 per annum

Job overview

Islington is a diverse and vibrant inner London borough, which continues to experience a large amount of development and change. We have imaginative planning policies, a positive and open attitude to growth, and a desire to secure development which addresses key local priorities.

A new borough Local Plan has been in preparation for a number of years and it has reached its final plan making stages. The new Local Plan also sets out ambitious policies to tackle climate change.

The council has also adopted an ambitious Net Zero Carbon Strategy, and an extensive work programme across different council departments has been developed to implement the strategy.

Main duties of the job

With the aim of tackling climate change at the heart of planning, we are looking for dynamic and hardworking individual to lead on the implementation of the new Local Plan policies as well as to support the delivery of the Net Zero Carbon Strategy.

The post holder will focus on providing expert advice on a range of pre-applications and planning applications, take part in appeals, as well as assist with research and monitoring of relevant policy areas and other related tasks.

A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate robust technical knowledge, extensive experience and strong record in town planning, environmental sustainability or related disciplines.
