We have an exciting opportunity for a Planner or Senior Planner to join our Birmingham office, for candidates with at least two years’ post-graduate experience in consultancy or local government, and who are working towards or have achieved MRTPI.

We are a pro-development consultancy and work with all sectors of the development industry (public and private) to assist them in formulating and implementing development schemes. You would be involved in a variety of projects to support the planning and development consultancy work of Lichfields, and to advise clients independently on the promotion of development schemes through Development Plans and planning applications.
Responsibilities
Your workload will be broad in scope and involve shaping and assessing the case for development projects. This will include preparing planning applications and appeals; site appraisals; planning strategies; and development plan representations. You will provide advice and guidance on planning and land use to a variety of clients including leading, developers, housebuilders, energy companies, tourism businesses and investment institutions as well as local planning authorities and other public or third sector organisations, throughout all stages of the planning process including Environmental Impact Assessments.

Qualifications
We expect candidates to have at least a 2:1 or equivalent at first degree, to have obtained a Master’s degree in RTPI/RICS accredited subjects, and have achieved or be working towards chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI). We offer a competitive salary and benefits package which is subject to negotiation and dependent on experience.
Candidates should also demonstrate good analytical, presentation, and writing skills, together with a clear commitment to working in the planning and property development field. The role will require working on a number of varied projects, so a proven ability to manage your own time, workload and problem solve is critical. Ideally, you will also be able to demonstrate the skills needed to market and innovate as these are important elements of this role.
