Our busy and successful Birmingham Office is multi-disciplinary and is home to Town Planning, Environmental Planning and Design teams. It is led by two Partners (including the Practice’s Senior Partner), boasting a friendly and busy atmosphere. Conveniently located within the heart of the city centre it has easy access to public transport, including being a short walk from New Street and Snow Hill Stations.   

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and commercially minded Senior Planner to join the team. The successful candidate will work on a broad range of planning projects, using their local knowledge and national influence to plan and deliver projects of all types and scales. Projects range from residential, commercial, employment, retail and infrastructure sectors.  
The successful candidate should have excellent communication and technical skills, Planning experience and good knowledge of the local planning market and clients. To have an impact in the role you will: 
• Promote large to medium scale residential, mixed-use, and employment-led developments (both brownfield and greenfield) through the Development Plan process and then by coordinating subsequent applications 
• Conduct research and site appraisals on projects for our client base  
• Prepare, submit and negotiate planning applications of all sizes/types. 
• Lodge appeals and potentially appear at Informal Hearings 
• Develop client relationships 
• Co-ordinate internal and external project teams and managing planning projects 
• Help to further raise the team’s profile through networking/business development 
• Act as a mentor to junior colleagues 
To succeed in the role, it is likely that you will: 
• Have planning experience 
• Have experience of working on residential and employment-led mixed-use developments 
• Be MRTPI qualified or working towards it 
• Be committed to continuing your professional development with a willingness to learn and progress 
• Be collaborative by nature  
• Be commercially minded and able to take on personal responsibility 
• Be committed and have an eye for detail 
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Be personable and professional with high levels of motivation, ambition and drive 
• Have an ability to manage your own time and workload 
• Hold a full UK driving licence 
 Additional desirable attributes would be: 
• Some consultancy experience (advantageous); and 
• An interest in business development and networking opportunities.
