Warwick District Council is looking for an enthusiastic graduate with some experience in a relevant role to join our planning policy team!
We are looking to recruit a Planning Assistant on a 2 year fixed-term contract to support the work of the team, providing you with excellent learning opportunities.
The advertised posts sit within the Planning Policy & Site Delivery team of the Council, responsible for matters relating to planning policy, delivery of major development sites and the Community Infrastructure Levy.
The team is currently working on the new South Warwickshire Local Plan, being prepared jointly with Stratford-on-Avon District Council. It is therefore a fantastic opportunity for you to be involved in work on setting the strategy for growth and developing the policies that will serve the area for the next 20+ years.
We are also currently working on a number of other exciting projects such as the development of a Net Zero Carbon DPD, the production of a Purpose-Built Student Accommodation DPD and other SPDs.
The roles will also give you opportunities to support our communities with the preparation of their Neighbourhood Plans, provide expert policy advice to colleagues in Development Management as well as other planning policy work.
Working within the policy team, you will play a supporting role in the preparation of the Local Plan and other policy documents, including research, policy formulation and assisting in the smooth running of public consultations.
You will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills. Being a team player is essential although you will also need to have initiative and be able to take the lead on specific pieces of work. Good communication skills are essential given that the role involves interaction with colleagues, partners, members of the public and other stakeholders.
If you wish to discuss these posts in further detail before submitting your application, please contact:
Amit Bratch (Principal Planning Officer) - 01926 456505.
The intention is for the postholder to work from home. However, office and hybrid working is also available. Whilst home working is offered for this role, it is a requirement that the successful candidate be available to attend meetings at our offices within Warwick District when required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate.
