Warwick District Council is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced policy planner to join our team!

We are looking to recruit a policy planner with strong experience in planning policy.

The advertised post sits within the Planning Policy & Site Delivery team of the Council, responsible for matters relating to planning policy, delivery of major development sites and the Community Infrastructure Levy.

The team is currently working on the new South Warwickshire Local Plan, being prepared jointly with Stratford-on-Avon District Council. It is therefore a fantastic opportunity for you to be involved in setting the strategy for growth and developing the policies that will serve the area for the next 20+ years.

We are also currently working on a number of other exciting projects such as the development of a Net Zero Carbon DPD, the production of a Purpose-Built Student Accommodation DPD and other SPDs.

These roles will also give you opportunities to support our communities with the preparation of their Neighbourhood Plans, provide expert policy advice to colleagues in Development Management as well as other planning policy work.

Working within the policy team, you will play an important role in the preparation of the Local Plan and other policy documents, including research, policy formulation and participation in consultation events and independent examinations.

You will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills. Being a team player is essential although you will also need to have initiative and be able to take the lead on specific pieces of work. Good communication skills are essential given that the role involves interaction with colleagues, partners, members of the public and other stakeholders.

If you wish to discuss these posts in further detail before submitting your application, please contact either:
Andrew Cornfoot (01926 456203) or Amit Bratch (01926 456505).

The intention is for the postholder to work from home. However, office and hybrid working is also available. Whilst home working is offered for this role, it is a requirement that the successful candidate be available to attend meetings at our offices within Warwick District when required and also have the ability to meet customers and visit sites when necessary. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate.
