About the role
As a Senior Planning Officer, you will be influential in shaping planning policies for Wiltshire on a range of challenging subject matters across urban and rural environments.
You will take a lead role in projects relating to the Local Plan Review.
There will also be opportunities to drive the review of the council’s minerals and waste planning policy framework by working collaboratively with the Swindon Borough Council.
You will also be involved in wider corporate programmes including regeneration projects, neighbourhood planning, and working closely with development management on the implementation of planning policy.

About you
You hold a degree in planning, or a related discipline and a higher qualification accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute.
Your application must provide evidence of the skills, qualities, and experience you consider to be relevant to working as a senior planner. For instance, you must demonstrate a sound understanding of planning policy at the national and local levels.
Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with different audiences will also be important in taking forward this role.

Wiltshire is a beautiful, predominantly rural county. Our towns and villages and our only city, Salisbury, are set against a stunning natural backdrop. Almost half of the county is designated as an 'area of outstanding natural beauty’, and we also have the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site.
We can be found in the southwest of England bordered by Hampshire, Somerset, Dorset, Oxfordshire, and Gloucestershire. Our key hub is at County Hall, Trowbridge which is easily accessible from Bristol, Bath, Salisbury, and Swindon.
