Historic Environment and Projects Assistant / Full time

*This is a Fixed Term Contract position*

Purpose

The broad purpose of the role is to provide technical, research and administrative support to Historic Environment professionals working with heritage assets in a planning policy and/or development management context and in relation to heritage related special projects including but not limited to Worcester Life Stories. 

Service to Customers:

1. Assist in the delivery of a strategy for income generation for heritage-related activities including research tasks in response to service requests on the Historic Environment Record (HER), from commercial and academic customers as well as the general public.
2. Contribute to a diverse range of pre-application inquiries (including formal submissions), contribute to the assessment and evaluation of the content to ensure a satisfactory evidence base for submission and to discharge conditions relating to planning permissions and listed building consent, in the context of national and local policy, existing best practice and guidance.
3. Research and prepare evidence to enhance the quality and scope of the HER to the benefit of the development management, planning policy and wider public interests through improved accessibility and quality of data.
4. Create and maintain records including but not limited to the HER, relating to written reports, photographic material and maps, ordering and cataloguing including the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
5. Undertake site visits which require risk assessment to ensure no significant level of risk and confrontation as a result of the actions of the customer or the required course of action of the officer, and ensuring the diplomatic and credible reputation of the Council.
6. Assisting on community based projects for the delivery of corporate and service objectives, increased engagement in the historic environment and understanding of our city and to deliver to budgetary expectations for income generation.
7. Assisting in day to day administration including raising purchase orders and scheduling meetings.
