Salary:£35,994 - £39,369 (Grade 6)

Contract type: Permanent appointment to undertake a time-limited role until 31 March 2026. When the post ends the post holder will be managed in line with our redeployment procedures.

Job Description

The post holder will provide the professional and technical expert role within the local Development Planning Team. They will usually case manage the most significant complex and high-profile casework in the team, oversee NRWs advice to Local Development Plans and coach and mentor colleagues. They will contribute their technical expertise and experience not only to the immediate team but also to colleagues across the wider DPAS service and other departments.


Knowledge and experience of the following are required:

1.Excellent knowledge and substantial experience of environmental assessment and development planning processes.

2.Excellent understanding and significant experience of the development sector.

3.Experience of community liaison and public engagement activities in relation to major projects.

4.Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with stakeholders at senior management levels.

5.Good written and spoken communication skills and an ability to represent both the technical and strategic aspects of Development Planning work to non-specialists, both within NRW and externally, in a concise and effective way.

6.Able to analyse complex information and situations, solve problems and make sound judgements.

7.Able to coach and mentor others effectively.

8.Able to manage projects and lead virtual task groups.

9.Strong and effective self-management and organisational skills.
