Senior Planning and Environmental Consultant(Part-Time)

Location: Knaresborough and Copgrove, North Yorkshire (with opportunity for hybrid working)

We are delighted to be recruiting for a Senior Planning and Environmental Consultant to work with our multi-disciplinary team at Energyline Ltd on a variety of projects including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) applications as well as Section 36 and 37 (of the Electricity Act) applications.

Energyline Ltd. are a fast-growing independent multi-disciplinary engineering, planning and environmental consultancy based in North Yorkshire, specialising in the design and consenting of power system projects including overhead lines and underground cables. Across the company we offer design solutions, planning and environmental consultancy expertise as well as site-based services including overhead line surveys, design studies relating to overhead lines and underground cable schemes, condition inspections, site investigations and engineering/ environmental surveys.

The Role: We are looking for a Senior Planning and Environmental Consultant to support our diverse specialist team of town planners, civil, environmental and electrical engineers.

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, adaptable, have a passion for planning and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will work as part of the planning and environmental team to deliver a range of planning projects, including working alongside and potentially project managing other disciplines as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The role is flexible working a minimum of 2 days per week (preferably office based for a minimum of 1 day per week) and could also be ideal for someone on a self-employed basis and/or needs flexibility with other roles they may have. Some field-based duties, including ad hoc site visits across the country would be required as part of this role.


Role Specific Competencies:Including the following:


·Experience in infrastructure planning, including for electricity transmission and distribution projects.

·Sound understanding of environmental constraints and requirements associated with infrastructure projects.

·Understanding of UK planning legislation.

·Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·A Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (beneficial).

·Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

·Experience working effectively within a larger multi-disciplinary team and able to coordinate and work to wider team programmes

·Experience and an understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

·Ability to provide planning-related advice on NSIP, TCPA and Section 36 and 37 schemes across the multi-disciplinary team.

·Experience managing stakeholders and undertaking public/stakeholder consultation activities.

·Experience coordinating and managing subcontractors on schemes.

·Experience of preparing and submitting planning applications, drafting reports, feasibility studies, routeing studies, masterplans and planning strategies.

·Strong organisational and time management skills as well as a keen eye for detail.

·A full UK driving licence and be available to travel to site locations within the UK.


Salary Range :


£30,000 - £45,000 pa (depending on experience)
