Working at Bury Council
Bury Council is the metropolitan borough council for Bury in Greater Manchester, covering Bury, Ramsbottom, Tottington, Radcliffe, Whitefield and Prestwich. Based at the Town Hall on Knowsley Street, it provides services including schools, social care, housing, waste and planning.
Bury is part of the Places for Everyone joint plan for nine Greater Manchester districts, which identifies strategic sites including the Northern Gateway employment area shared with Rochdale. The council is leading regeneration of Radcliffe and Prestwich town centres and supporting growth in Bury town centre, while green belt and moorland in the north around Ramsbottom shape the borough's character. Planners deal with town centre renewal, strategic housing and employment sites and a steady volume of residential and householder casework.
