Greater Manchester is a city‑region with a strong track record of devolution, partnership and delivery. Working together across our ten local authorities and with public, private and voluntary sector partners, we are focused on building a thriving, inclusive and sustainable city‑region where everyone can live a good life. We are seeking a Deputy Director Place – Planning to provide senior leadership at the heart of Greater Manchester’s place agenda. This is a pivotal role within the Place Directorate, shaping how planning policy translates into real‑world delivery across the city‑region.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Area Team Manager to lead teams within our Development Management service. You will manage a team of Planners and specialists, focusing on performance, leadership, and service improvement rather than carrying your own caseload.
Are you highly organised, confident dealing with people and looking for a role where no two days are the same? This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong administrative or regulatory background or keen to build a career within local government and planning.
You will support work on a new local plan and other planning policy work, contributing to research, evidence gathering, consultation responses and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with senior colleagues on high-profile projects, including Fens Reservoir, gaining first-hand experience of complex planning processes.
You will lead the Council’s planning strategy and specialist services, guiding how Fenland grows and develops over the long term. A key priority will be the Council’s need to deliver a new Local Plan under the reformed plan-making system, supported by a clear spatial strategy, strong evidence base and effective neighbourhood planning.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our Planning Enforcement Team within Dacorum Borough. Dacorum is easily accessible from the M1, M25 and the A41.
Working within the Strategic Growth team, you will be responsible for helping to deliver the Council's statutory and non-statutory Planning functions including the creation of evidence-based policies and guidance. You will be involved in policy planning projects from conception to conclusion including supporting the commissioning and preparation of evidence for the Council to support the new Local Plan.
