Working at Cambridge City Council
Cambridge City Council is the district council for the city of Cambridge, based at the Guildhall. It covers the historic centre and neighbourhoods across the city, providing services such as council housing, waste collection, parks, leisure and planning, while Cambridgeshire County Council runs services such as schools and highways.
Planning is delivered through the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service with South Cambridgeshire District Council, which is preparing a joint Greater Cambridge Local Plan. Cambridge combines a historic university core and green belt with intense pressure for growth, from the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and North East Cambridge to new neighbourhoods such as Eddington. Officers deal with major science and housing schemes, conservation, water supply constraints and national interest in the city's growth.
