Working at Darlington Borough Council
Darlington Borough Council is the unitary authority for Darlington, serving the town and surrounding villages including Hurworth, Middleton St George, Heighington and Sadberge. Based at the Town Hall on Feethams, it provides all local council services, including schools, social care, housing, highways and planning, and is part of the Tees Valley Combined Authority.
Darlington is closely tied to the birth of the railways through the Stockton and Darlington Railway, and its heritage shapes work around the town centre and the historic route. Growth is focused on housing sites on the edge of the town, the Central Park area by Teesside University's campus and employment land near Teesside International Airport. Planners work on the Darlington Local Plan, town centre renewal, heritage and conservation, and rural casework in the villages towards the Tees.
