Environmental Planning Consultant/ Town Planner
Job Location: Dundee (or Turriff)
Muirden Energy LLP are a well-established Renewable Energy Developer based in North-East Scotland, looking to recruit an experienced Planner to join our Renewables Development Team. The successful candidate will join an accomplished team with a proven track record in the delivery of renewable energy developments across Scotland, with a future project pipeline of over 200MW of wind, solar and battery storage developments.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare, submit and manage all aspects of applications inclusive of Pre-Applications, EIAs, planning statements, full planning application submissions and appeals;
- Management of external and internal technical or engineering support in relation to the project design, due diligence, access, wind resource assessments, and grid connection strategies;
- Responsible for obtaining any post consent planning variations/value-add workstreams;
- Undertake site evaluation and feasibility for potential renewable energy projects;
- Undertake relevant external stakeholder relationships, including those with landowners, local communities, planning authorities, local elected members/groups and other key influencers, all consultees statutory or otherwise, network operators, suppliers, regulators.
Experience and Skills
- Honors degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Renewables, or relevant related discipline.
- Working knowledge of policy and legislation relating to planning and the environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Impact Assessment process.
- Attention to detail and good communication skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and delivering work to a high standard.
- Flexible to work on several projects concurrently and able to manage priorities while seeing tasks to completion.
- Drive to deliver projects to fruition.
- Good interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all relevant stakeholders and build lasting relationships.
- Flexible to travel as required by the business.
- Flexible to undertake extra work as necessary for specific project needs.
- Full UK driving license.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience of planning with renewables, including relevant policy.
- Experience of site search and feasibility assessments.
- Understanding of landscape and visual impact assessment procedures.
- Software experience including CAD and GIS.
