Working at Hart District Council
Hart District Council is the district council for north-east Hampshire, covering Fleet, Yateley, Hook, Odiham, Hartley Wintney, Blackwater and a rural area of villages and commons. From its offices in Fleet it provides district services such as housing, waste collection, leisure, environmental health and planning.
Planning in Hart is shaped by the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area, which means new housing must provide mitigation and suitable alternative green space. The Hart Local Plan directs growth to strategic sites such as Hartland Village on the former Pyestock site near Fleet, while protecting the district's many conservation areas, village character and the gaps between settlements. Commuting links to London and the Blackwater Valley towns add pressure for development, giving officers a mix of strategic, heritage and householder work.
