Hillingdon is home to Heathrow Airport, making airport-related development, logistics and noise and air quality issues a regular part of planning work. The north and west of the borough include extensive green belt and the Colne Valley, while HS2 passes through the borough on its way into London. Growth is concentrated in Hayes and West Drayton on the Elizabeth line and in Uxbridge town centre. Officers deal with major infrastructure, green belt and a wide spread of development management casework.
