This role involves analysing demographic trends, housing need, employment forecasts, transport modelling and environmental constraints. Strategic Planners often work across multiple authorities, supporting regional frameworks, joint plans and strategic growth corridors.


Main Responsibilities

  • Develop long‑term spatial strategies and strategic planning frameworks
  • Analyse demographic, housing, employment and infrastructure evidence
  • Coordinate cross‑boundary planning with neighbouring authorities
  • Support Local Plan development with strategic evidence and modelling
  • Represent the authority at regional planning forums and examinations
  • Provide expert advice on strategic growth, regeneration and infrastructure planning
