Working at Moray Council
Moray Council is the local authority for the area between the Highlands and Aberdeenshire on the southern shore of the Moray Firth, serving Elgin, where it is based, along with Forres, Buckie, Lossiemouth, Keith and Fochabers. It runs local services including schools, roads, housing, harbours, waste and planning.
Its planning service prepares the Moray Local Development Plan under National Planning Framework 4, covering coastal towns, farmland and the Speyside glens, with part of the south of the area inside the Cairngorms National Park. Whisky distilleries, the military bases at Lossiemouth and Kinloss, tourism and housing growth around Elgin and Forres bring a steady mix of applications. Officers handle both rural development and growth of the main towns.
