About the employer
North West Leicestershire District Council is the district council for the north-west of Leicestershire, based in Coalville. It serves Coalville, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Castle Donington, Ibstock, Measham, Kegworth and Whitwick, along with many villages, and runs district services including housing, waste collection, leisure and planning.
The district is home to East Midlands Airport, the East Midlands Gateway rail freight terminal and Donington Park, and sits at a meeting point of the M1, M42 and A42. Much of it lies within the National Forest, and the former coalfield towns are a focus for regeneration. Planning work covers the Local Plan review, large logistics and employment schemes, the East Midlands Freeport, housing growth and heritage in Ashby, giving officers a strategic and fast-moving caseload.
