Our client is a major national organisation representing rural and agricultural interests across the UK. They work to influence policy, support business growth and ensure that the concerns of rural communities are heard at the highest levels of government.

They are now seeking an Adviser (Planning) to act as the organisation’s national planning policy specialist. In this high‑impact role, you will shape and lead planning policy development that supports rural and agricultural businesses to be more productive, resilient and profitable. Working across England and Wales, you will monitor key planning reforms, influence government and national stakeholders, and provide clear, timely guidance to colleagues and members.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the development of planning policy positions, ensuring rural and agricultural interests are represented nationally
  • Monitor and analyse planning legislation, consultations and reforms
  • Provide expert advice, briefings and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships across government, industry and rural communities
  • Champion improvements to the planning system that support business growth and rural development
  • Contribute to research, lobbying and national policy engagement

What you’ll bring

  • Strong knowledge of planning or policy, supported by a relevant degree or significant experience
  • Ability to analyse and communicate complex planning developments clearly
  • Credibility with rural communities and confidence engaging with government and industry
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving and prioritisation skills
  • A proactive, organised and analytical approach to delivering high‑quality policy work
