Following the retirement of the present Principal, the company has been acquired by the P&K Construction Holdings Group, a large and growing group of companies who are active in the development of various large-scale and prestigious commercial, industrial and agricultural projects.

The new owners are now keen to develop and expand the company’s reach and are seeking  a Principal to be the key source of planning advice within the company, and to guide and oversee the work of others within the practice.

Prism Planning has developed a reputation for problem solving and developing innovative strategies to overcome barriers to new development.

Whilst its core client base covers Yorkshire and the North East, it has developed sectoral specialisms in the renewables field which have seen it tackle projects ranging from the south coast of England through to Scotland. In addition to this the company have advised on a number of EIA related projects and has co-ordinated, prepared and submitted applications involving EIA.

A significant proportion of its workload has also revolved around representing clients in appeal and enforcement scenarios and a familiarity with this sector will be helpful to the successful candidate.

Job Description: Principal

• To oversee and contribute to the operation of an established private sector planning consultancy operating predominantly in the North East of England but with sectoral specialism covering the whole of the UK.
• To be responsible for supervising and auditing the work of other team members and directing as necessary the day to day operation the team.
• To advise clients on the operation of the UK Planning system and to develop strategies to facilitate the development and use of land and buildings.
• To prepare and submit planning applications for new development, building and assembling teams of consultants that work effectively for the client.
• To lead and negotiate effectively on behalf of clients with both planning authorities and statutory consultees.
• To propose and develop innovative strategies to overcome objections to new development.
• To prepare clear written reports for clients.
• To attend and speak at planning committees and public forums on behalf of clients.
• To develop marketing strategies to promote and develop the client base of Prism Planning.
• To ensure that at all times Prism Planning operates and conforms with all regulatory and financial requirements relating to a small business.
