About the opportunity
Our client, a large national planning and development consultancy, is always keen to hear from talented Principal Planners. The role can be based in Manchester, London or Bristol, so you can choose the office that suits you best. There's no closing date, and we'd be happy to have a confidential chat whenever the time is right for you.
The salary guide is £48,000 – £60,000 plus benefits, with London typically around 10% higher.
The consultancy
This is an established consultancy with a long track record and a broad national reach. It advises private and public sector clients across the full range of planning and development work, and it is known for its market analysis and its close tracking of policy and legislative change. Principal Planners work alongside colleagues in economics, heritage and other specialist teams.
What you will be doing
- Leading planning projects and applications from first appraisal through to determination
- Working on residential and mixed-use schemes, strategic land, commercial and infrastructure projects
- Advising on heritage matters, economics and appeals, often with input from in-house specialists
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact
- Supervising and developing Planners and Senior Planners
- Contributing to business development and to the consultancy's wider thinking on planning policy
About you
- Substantial consultancy experience, ideally with a track record of managing projects and clients independently
- MRTPI chartered, or close to it
- Sound knowledge of the current planning system and policy
- Confident communicator, comfortable with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams
- Keen to mentor others and help shape your own career path towards Associate level
