Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is the unitary authority for an area south of the River Tees, covering Redcar, Guisborough, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Marske, Eston, Skelton, Brotton and Loftus. Based in Redcar, it provides all local council services and is part of the Tees Valley Combined Authority.
The borough runs from the industrial land along the Tees, including the former Redcar steelworks site now being redeveloped as Teesworks, to a coastline of seaside towns and the edge of the North York Moors National Park, where the park authority handles planning. Officers work on the Redcar and Cleveland Local Plan, major industrial and energy-related development, coastal and town centre regeneration, and rural casework in the villages of East Cleveland.
