Working at Redditch Borough Council
Redditch Borough Council is the district council for Redditch in north-east Worcestershire, a former needle-making town that was expanded as a new town in the second half of the twentieth century. It runs district services such as council housing, waste collection, leisure and planning, and shares many of its services and staff with neighbouring Bromsgrove District Council.
Planning in Redditch works within a tightly drawn borough, with the town's new town estates, district centres and industrial areas surrounded by green belt. The Borough of Redditch Local Plan has had to look beyond the boundary, with cross-boundary housing sites on the Bromsgrove side, so officers deal with joint working, town centre renewal, employment land and the regeneration of older new town neighbourhoods as well as everyday casework.
