Working at Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is the metropolitan borough council for Rotherham in South Yorkshire, covering the town of Rotherham and communities including Wath-upon-Dearne, Rawmarsh, Maltby, Dinnington, Swinton and Wickersley. From Riverside House in the town centre, it runs all local council services, including schools, social care, highways and planning.
The borough's planning work reflects its coal and steel history and its location between Sheffield and the M1 and M18. The Rotherham Local Plan guides housing and employment growth within green belt, and the council has been involved in the Advanced Manufacturing Park and wider innovation district on the Sheffield border, as well as regeneration of Rotherham town centre and its riverside. Officers deal with former industrial land, flood risk along the Don and Rother, and rural villages to the east.
