About the opportunity
Our client, an independent planning consultancy with an office in Wokingham, is always keen to hear from talented Senior Planners and Senior Planning Officers. There's no closing date, so you can get in touch when the timing suits you. The salary guide for this level is £38,000 – £50,000, depending on experience.
The consultancy
The practice focuses on residential-led development and strategic land. It works for housebuilders, land promoters and landowners, taking sites through local plans, planning applications and appeals. It is the kind of environment where you see projects through from early promotion to a decision on the ground.
What you will be doing
- Promoting sites through local plan processes, including representations and engagement with local authorities
- Preparing and managing planning applications for residential and mixed-use schemes
- Contributing to appeals, from strategy and evidence through to inquiry or hearing
- Advising clients clearly and commercially, and building relationships with them
- Working with colleagues across planning and other disciplines, and supporting more junior team members
About you
- Solid experience in a planning consultancy or local authority, with a good grounding in residential development
- Knowledge of the plan-making process and the policy context for housing delivery
- A degree in planning or a related subject; RTPI membership, or progress towards it, is welcome
- Confident writing and communication, and the ability to manage your own caseload
- An interest in strategic land, or a wish to move into it, is a real advantage
