Hyndburn is a great place to work. Over recent years we’ve established an impressive reputation as a Council with a strong sense of direction and an enviable record for improving services and getting things done. We now have an exciting opportunity to join our Planning Policy team.
As Senior Planning Policy Officer, you will play a key role in shaping Hyndburn’s development plan, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, sustainable development across the Borough. You will support the progression of the Local Plan 2040 through its final stages towards adoption in 2026, following its submission for examination in early 2025 and the completion of public hearing sessions.
The Local Plan is central to the Council’s ambitions for growth and investment, including the delivery of two strategic employment sites and a new garden village at Huncoat. Following its adoption, you will also contribute to the preparation of a new Local Plan under the reformed plan-making system, ensuring the Borough continues to respond effectively to future development needs.
We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified, and experienced planning professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, residents, applicants, and elected members. Ideally, you will be a member of the RTPI, with a strong understanding of current planning legislation and national policy, alongside experience in planning policy development or within a policy-focused role.
At Hyndburn, we value work–life balance. The successful candidate will enjoy flexible working arrangements, generous annual leave, professional development opportunities and the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
If you are passionate about delivering results as we are, and if you want a job where you can be part of a team that’s making a real difference, we’d like to hear from you.
