Our continually growing practice, means that we have new opportunities for a Planner / Senior Planner to join our team. We are looking for additional bright, enthusiastic, and ambitious people to resource our wide, varied, and interesting workload.  

Role Summary

Working in teams, every individual (both Planners and Senior Planners) is supported and encouraged to have first-hand exposure to clients, finance, and marketing etc. 
You will deal with a wide range of projects spanning from the promotion of Strategic Sites to Heritage and Conservation all over the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and edit, reports and plans relating to a variety of projects;
  • Process planning applications from individuals and organisations;
  • Liaise directly with the client, local authority officers, statutory consultees and other parties involved in the planning process;
  • Work with and co-ordinate the work of other professionals, such as architects, landscape architects, civil engineers, construction managers and surveyors;
  • Knowledge of the legal issues associated with land use planning;
  • Attendance at meetings and appeals; 
Skills Required 

Ideally we are looking for people with public or private Development Management experience, and for candidates at Planner/Senior Planner level. 

A degree and / or Masters in town planning or related subject will be necessary. 

Membership of (or eligibility for) the Royal Town Planning Institute is preferable, albeit the experience, work ethic and capability of the individual is more important. Holding a full driving licence and access to a car is also preferred.

  • An ability to project manage efficiently;
  • An ability to consider the impact of planning proposals in terms of the environment and the economy;
  • Geographical and mapping skills;
  • IT skills, sufficient to perform the role – including ‘Microsoft office software’ and ‘Internet Explorer’: to prepare outputs and research material and evidence;
  • Political and commercial awareness and sensitivity;
  • An eye for detail, as well as the ability to see the bigger picture, balance various needs and demands, and to come up with innovative solutions;
