About the employer

Working at Fermanagh and Omagh District Council

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is one of Northern Ireland's eleven councils, covering County Fermanagh and much of west Tyrone, including Enniskillen, Omagh, Irvinestown, Lisnaskea, Dromore and Fintona. With offices in Enniskillen and Omagh, it provides services including waste, leisure, tourism, building control and planning.

The council took on planning powers in 2015 and has been bringing forward its Local Development Plan through its Plan Strategy. The district is largely rural, with the Lough Erne lakelands, the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark and the Sperrins, and it shares a long border with the Republic of Ireland. Planning work centres on single dwellings and farm development in the countryside, tourism, quarrying and renewable energy, and growth in Enniskillen and Omagh, giving officers wide-ranging rural casework.
