An Infrastructure Planner works within UK local authorities to plan, coordinate and deliver infrastructure needed to support growth, development and local plans. They assess infrastructure requirements, work with service providers, support funding strategies and ensure development is aligned with long‑term infrastructure planning.

This role supports strategic planning, development management and capital investment teams, helping councils plan for transport, utilities, schools, health facilities and other essential infrastructure.


Main Responsibilities

  • Assess infrastructure needs linked to growth and development
  • Support Infrastructure Delivery Plans (IDPs) and Local Plans
  • Work with service providers, developers and partner organisations
  • Coordinate infrastructure evidence, modelling and capacity assessments
  • Support funding strategies including S106, CIL and external bids
  • Provide advice on planning applications and strategic growth proposals
  • Contribute to long‑term infrastructure planning and investment programmes
