Working at Torfaen County Borough Council
Torfaen County Borough Council is the unitary authority for the eastern valley of south Wales, covering Pontypool, Cwmbran and Blaenavon. From the Civic Centre in Pontypool it runs all local council services, including schools, social care, highways, housing and planning.
The borough brings together contrasting places: Cwmbran, built as a new town, in the south; Pontypool in the middle; and Blaenavon in the north, at the heart of the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape World Heritage Site. The council prepares its Local Development Plan within Future Wales and the Cardiff Capital Region, and officers deal with housing land, town centre renewal, former industrial sites and the upland countryside around the valley.
