Working at Mole Valley District Council
Mole Valley District Council is the district council for central Surrey, covering Dorking, Leatherhead, Ashtead, Bookham, Fetcham and a rural south with villages such as Beare Green and Capel. From Pippbrook in Dorking it runs district services including housing, waste collection, leisure and planning.
Much of the district is green belt and a large part lies within the Surrey Hills National Landscape, including Box Hill, so landscape protection shapes most planning decisions. The Mole Valley Local Plan focuses new homes on brownfield land in the towns and limited sites on their edges, alongside the regeneration of Leatherhead town centre. Historic Dorking, many conservation areas and listed buildings add heritage work, giving officers a caseload of sensitive countryside and town centre applications.
