Planning in Causeway Coast and Glens

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council covers the north coast of Northern Ireland, from Limavady and Binevenagh in the west through Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart to Ballycastle and the Glens of Antrim, with Ballymoney inland and Rathlin Island offshore. It has been the planning authority since 2015, preparing its own Local Development Plan.

The Giant's Causeway is Northern Ireland's only World Heritage Site, and three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty cover much of the coast and glens, so landscape protection runs through many decisions. Tourism, golf, caravan parks and second homes put pressure on the coastal towns, while the farmland inland generates applications for houses and buildings in the countryside. Coleraine's university campus and town centre are other focuses. This is a place for planners who enjoy coastal and landscape-led work.
