Planning in Clackmannanshire

Clackmannanshire, known as the Wee County, is Scotland's smallest council area by land, lying between the Ochil Hills and the River Forth. Alloa is the main town, with Tullibody, Tillicoultry, Alva, Dollar and Clackmannan making up most of the rest. Clackmannanshire Council decides applications under its Local Development Plan and NPF4.

The Hillfoots villages along the foot of the Ochils grew around woollen mills, and their mill buildings and conservation areas are a large part of the heritage picture. Former mining land, the Forth shoreline and flood risk all feature in development decisions, while Alloa town centre is a focus for regeneration. The council works with Stirling on the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal. As a small authority, it gives its planners a broad spread of work rather than a narrow specialism.
